New Orleans rapper BTY YoungN was shot and killed at a Shell gas station in New Orleans on April 29. The Times-Picayune reports that the 27 year-old rapper whose real name was Desmone Jerome was gunned down on Airline Highway in Hollygrove around 11:00pm.
A statement on YoungN's facebook page confirmed his death. It reads "On behalf of YoungN's friends and family we ask that you please respect their privacy at this time. We will post arrangements once they are available, we will post for his fans. If you have any information on his murder, please contact Crime stoppers of Greater New Orleans."
The rapper was awarded during NOLA Music Awards as the breakthrough artist of 2016. He was a member of Birdman's Rich Gang and made headlines last year.
According to The Adovcate, YoungN was the 12th person slain in the month of April and 63rd in 2017.
